Why We Exist

SVMIC exists to protect, support, and advocate for physicians and healthcare providers so they can practice medicine with confidence. Founded by doctors and owned by its members, the organization defends good medicine while providing malpractice coverage, education, and resources that help physicians focus on caring for their patients.

Who We Are

What began in 1975 as a group of like-minded doctors looking out for one another is now the premier provider of medical malpractice insurance in the southeast. As a mutual company, each of our members has a say in how we utilize our resources, provide ongoing education, and protect the best interests of the group as a whole. Since our founding 50 years ago, we have developed a culture in which service to our policyholders comes first, embraced by employees who bring long tenure, advanced expertise, and a deep commitment to the people we serve. The SVMIC Personality

At SVMIC, we serve physicians with the same care and commitment that led doctors to create this company more than 50 years ago. These physicians are not only members but owners of SVMIC. We lead with expertise, humility, and responsiveness - offering practical guidance, strong advocacy, and unwavering defense of good medicine. As a mutual company built on service and stewardship, we show up every day as a trusted partner, so physicians can practice with confidence and peace of mind.
